Temperance Dews is a widow and runs an orphanage with her brother that their father established. Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is a scandalous man around London. When he takes it upon himself to locate his mistress’s murderer, he uses any means necessary to get Temperance’s help.
This book wasn’t bad. As with all of this author’s characters, the main characters were well written and in-depth. There was a very good story-line. However, I had a bit of a problem really getting into the story. It seemed to move a little slow. I also really didn’t like Lord Caire’s first interactions with Temperance. I think he made too many forward assumptions. Overall not a bad story though.
