My Fair Lover: A Legendary Lovers Novel - Nicole Jordan

Lady Katherine Wilde believes she has crushed any lingering romantic feelings toward Brandon Deverill, who spurned her six years ago. And now that the rough-edged rogue needs polishing to claim his inheritance, she’s willing to strike a practical bargain: Kate will mold the brash privateer into an acceptable English nobleman if Deverill will safeguard her from brigands on a voyage to recover lost family treasure. However, the soul-melting kiss that seals their agreement just may reignite blazing passion.

This was a pretty good book. I’ve read this author, and several books in this series, but it’s been a few years. I really liked both Kate and Deverill and their interactions between each other were well-written. The story moved along well. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Cute Story

Heartthrob (American Royalty #1) - Robin Bielman

Here’s the deal: I’m the best center fielder in the major leagues. I’m also the guy who cost his team the championship game and acted very unsportsmanlike. So, when the team hires a social media manager to repair the damage to my reputation, I don’t argue. But then I meet Chloe Conrad, and I suddenly understand what people mean when they say they have an instant connection to someone. Which means I’m in serious trouble. Chloe’s a smart, sexy distraction I can’t afford, but one date can’t hurt, right? Only she turns me down. And just like that, it’s game on.

This was an ok story. I liked Chloe right from the bat, but was kind of iffy on Finn. The story itself moved along at a quick pace. No real curve balls (Hah!). It was good for a quick read when you don’t want anything heavy.

Great Story

Realm - Alexandrea Weis

When her homeland is conquered by the mighty Alexander the Great, Roxana—the daughter of a mere chieftain—is torn from her simple life and thrown into a world of war and intrigue.

So, I’m not sure why I decided to read this story, it’s not really the type I read, more like the type I’d watch, but I did. It was definitely the first I’ve read that had anything to do with Alexander the great and this many fictitious real people (if that makes any sense). The only thing I knew about Alexander the great was from the movie that was released a few years back and the only thing I knew about that was that it inferred he was killed by his male lover, so I was initially incensed in the beginning. Than I did a google search and did a mental apology to the author and continued reading. Overall it was a really good saga. My only complaint would be that there are numerous POVs that are a bit annoying. It was a really good book that I highly recommend.

Loved It Until About Halfway Through...

To Tame a Wild Cowboy (Cupid, Texas #7) - Lori Wilde

One minute, Rhett Lockhart is a love ‘em and leave ‘em bull rider with a slow, sexy smile, a swagger, and not a care in the world. The next, he learns his free-wheeling days are over: a baby has been abandoned in the hospital, and there’s no question: he’s the father. But from the first moment he gazes into his daughter’s eyes, he knows the moment has come to say ‘no’ to no-strings. It’s time to grow up. Standing in his way is the baby’s foster mother, Tara Alzate, who doesn’t quite believe Rhett is ready to change his ways. Still, she’s not not immune to his considerable charms. So when he proposes a marriage of convenience and shared custody, against her better judgement, she says “I do.” Can Tara tame this wild cowboy and make her own, long-buried dreams come true?

This was a really good book until about 50% in. I really liked both Tara and Rhett. My heart really bled for Tara and I was rooting for Rhett as he fell in love with his baby. Then about halfway through, when Rhett goes on being Rhett, I felt like Tara did a complete 180 and it really soured me towards her. I know that in her POV, she’s not as strong-willed towards him as his perception of her, but I felt like she just let him run right over her, and yes, I know the author did that to move the plot along, it just really took me out of how much I felt about the story.

Started Off Great, But...

Grigori: A Royal Dragon Romance (Brothers of Ash and Fire) - Monique Patterson, Lauren Smith

Grigori Barinov is the eldest in an ancient line of dragon shifters and the guardian of his family’s lands and fortune. Sworn to protect their history and magic, he won’t rest until he neutralizes any threat to their existence. When he discovers an ancient manuscript that exposes his family and their dragon lineage has fallen into a mortal woman’s hands, he knows he must get the book back by any means necessary. If that means seducing a nosy American woman with an intoxicating scent, he is more than willing to carry her off to his palatial home deep in the heart of Russia.

This book started off great. I liked the premise and I liked Madelyn. I also liked Grigori. My problem was their initial reactions with each other. Grigori’s character once Madelyn wakes up just rubbed me the wrong way. I do like books with the soul mate aspect, but that just dragged down my opinion.

Lost in You - Lauren Dane

Joe was tired of everything. His dog Buck was next to his bowl sleeping. Normally if he heard Joe’s keys he came running but he’d had enough today. Joe wished he could lie next to his bowl with a bottle of beer and sak out for hours too. The town of Petal had been part of Joe for his entire life. He’d come home. Even when he’d been halfway around the world he hadn’t been too far from Petal’s streets. So when he  got his motorcycle he knew exactly where he wanted to ride. Joe would find a routine. Get his dad some help. Get his business set up and running. Maybe even date or at least have sex. But for now the road have to be enough. Beth hadn't seen much of Mary Poppins as a kid and now it was one of her favorite movies. Her parents weren’t much for Disney movies for their kids. They also didn’t have a VCR or anything like that. She discovered the movie when her brother William’s oldest child came along. Joe pulled into the yard. Joe was the older bad boy Beth’s brother used to run around with. Joe came in the yard to talk to William and Beth told him she would see him around and she would make sure she did. Beth’s best friend was Lily who was engaged to her brother Nathan. Beth had decided to go to Joe’s house and say hello as she hadn’t bumped into Joe any of the times she tried to. Beth had come along way from the girl who had to make due with thrift store and garage sale stuff. Tate even went dumpster diving when she had to for her siblings needs. Now she was a business owner, had a nice apartment, her frige and pantry had food and the last time she hid from a drunken argument was years before, the last time she’d went to her parents house. Lily was raising her teenage brother Chris since her parents split and her mother sunk into drugs. Chris was having a hard time. tate-Beth’s older sister was doing Beth’s hair and said you know William is going to break something internal when he finds out you set your cap Joe. Joe’s reputation is less than stellar. Although William said Joe had changed alot since he left Petal and he came back to help his parents and nothing is in it for him. Joe had just started an auto repair shop. Beth thought Joe was really hot. Joe thought Beth looked better than a body had a right to a couple of weeks ago when he seen her. Now she was even hotter in a red dress and her hair done. Joe had found his dog Buck in a dumpster as a small pup. Someone had thrown him away. Joe had bottle fed Buck until he was stronger. He told beth about it as Buck went up to her and she was scratching him behind his ears.  She bought Joe some cookies and brownies and an invitation to Lily and nathan’s wedding. Than Beth said Joe could take her to lunch at The Sands so they could catch up. Beth said she’d be at the salon over there. Which Tate, Anne and Beth owned. Tate and Anne did most of the hair work while she did the books. She also did the occasional shampoo if needed. Beth ran errands, handled supply orders and pretty much anything else. The sisters were so close and used to having to work together that it was smooth and efficient. Joe’s father had deteriorating mental health and that is what brought Joe back now. He just had a call from his mother his dad-Carl- had got upset and left in PJ bottoms so Joe got up and dressed it was just midnight to go look for his father. Beth Joe was super hot in the bad boy, works-with-his-hands, has a scruffy beard way. Beth’s type of guy. She knew he had done four tors of duty in Iraq. Beth walked in and saved Joe from the floozie Dolly saying it was time for their lunch. Joe ran into hre, and had less and less defense against her charm. She was charming and hot. But also his best friends little sister. After running into Lily and Nathan and Beth at the Mexican restaurant, he gave Beth a ride home. She had told him to go get Buck. he wanted to be with her and she wanted to be with him and they were both adults. What Joe felt for Beth was far more than sexual curiosity. Joe and Beth had sex and seen each other as much as they could.

I loved this book. It was a great read with drama, family, and love. I loved joe and Beth together and how they interacted. I couldn’t believe it when Joe dumped Beth and in front of everyone. I understood his turmoil but that was still a horrible thing to do to her. Especially when they were so good for each other. My heart broke for Beth. i felt like I was there with everyone. I didn’t want to put this down. I loved the plot and pace. I absolutely loved Tate and all she was to her siblings especially Beth. I hope to get to read the next book of this series. I loved how close Beth and her siblings were and how they all turned out after the horrific upbringing they had. I loved  the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

I loved this book. It was an easy read with just enough angst, danger, and drama. I loved the plot and pace. I loved reed and talia together and how they interacted. I felt so bad for Talia when reed told his mother Talia was just a fling and she knew she loved him. I loved how brave talia was. I loved talia did have friends she could turn to when she really needed them, they were there for her. I loved how protective Reed was of tali even if they weren’t together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs if this book and I highly recommend it.

Ignite (Dark Kings #15) - Donna Grant

For centuries, V has waited to awaken from his doomed sleep and reclaim his destiny. But this Dragon King—one among a legion of legendary warriors sworn to protect the human race from darkness—must first find a way to win back his sword. Wield its power. And try not to fall prey to his own illicit desires.

I should start by saying I’m a huge fan of this author. I’ve yet to read one I didn’t enjoy. After reading the last book, I was happy that V got his dragon mate. All of that said, the relationship part of this book was pretty standard so I was skimming it to get to the overall story that’s been building for some time, Rhi and Con and their battle with the light fae queen. The author didn’t let me down. I am already impatiently waiting for the next book! I highly recommend.

Some Kind of Hero: A Troubleshooters Novel - Suzanne Brockmann

Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Though he can’t relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though Pete’s lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.

Shayla is probably one of my favorite characters I’ve ever read. Her inner conversations with her on characters made me love this book a whole lot more than I probably would’ve. Beyond that, it was a pretty good book. Pretty straight-forward with the it being a single father a twist on what I normally get to read. I recommend.

The Virgin Witch and The Vampire King: Weddings Bells Times Four - Trinity Blacio

Beth wandered down an alley  searching for Nora who was her best friend. Nora had disappeared two nights ago. Whens he didn’t show up for their usual friday night out Beth knew something had happened. Beth even tried to contact Nora’s boss Deward- the Vampire King, but he was seeing no one. He didn’t care his secretary was missing.  Beth had seen him once and he was a playboy with a woman hanging off each arm. . His dark blue eyes took in everything in the room as he seemed to glide across the floor. Even his hair didn't have a strand out of place. He was so perfect. She had wanted to run to him and mess up his perfect image. She didn’t know why seeing him with someone else she had wanted  to change than into donkeys. Beth hadn’t believed she would be here on her birthday. She scanned the last place Nora had been seen, afraid of the worse for Nora. Halloween was the one day of the year she hid in her house, she was afraid the other world creatures would know she could see them. But now she was out searching for Nora . beth had a piece of Nora’s shirt and sniffed it.  Beth found out Nora had been taken by Wizards and she must find her friend before it is too late. Being part were and part witch it would help her to find Nora. The strong scent of Nora’s blood and Others weres were in the alley and than led her to the woods. She hoped Nora was alright no one else understood Beth besides Nora. Beth is afraid to unleash her powers and draw attention to herself.   Beth finds Nora who she believes is dead in the forest but Nora is actually transitioning but she doesn’t know this. Beth unleashed her powers but is stopped and protected by Edward who came upon her and Nora in the forest. . Edward tells beth the prophecy and that they must mate before midnight on All hallows eve. That doesn’t leave them much time. Beth can feel the pull deep inside that says Edward can be trusted and is telling the truth.

I liked this novella but felt it was definitely too short - if you can even call this that. But I felt this was rushed. It took under an hour to read.  I wondered why this wasn’t just added to the beginning of the first book of the series as a prelude- to Wedding Bells Times Four. This did make me curious about the first book and interested in trying the book. I would have definitely liked more background on Beth, Nora, and Edward. I just felt this was way to short presented as it was.

Jagger asked where his girl was? Samantha/Sam said she was at Saks with Jessica and the media had been outside for thirty minutes. When the doorbell rings he sees it is Koi- his best friend and henley’s brother as well as the leader of their band. Koi said he had been sent by Sam- after he punched jagger- he told Jagger to get everything he owns and take it and get out of Henley’s house. Koi said time for explaining was over when the story hit every news outlet in the world. Jagger said he’d pack but he needed to see henley before he left. Koi told him not to imagine she wanted to see him right now and he had an hour to get his stuff out of her house. Koi also said he wasn’t coming back to his house after this. Henley loves jagger and her passion for him overwhelms her. He invokes all these feelings she couldn’t decipher. Henley’s assistant and publicist are attempting to do damage control. Jagger is part of Koiband - Broken Access. Sam told hensley she had new security- goons- to get her out of there- Cory and Maurice who offered to carry her out as Cory had went to take care of the problems outside. They take her to a nearby hotel and she drank and then cried as Samantha and Jessica rocked her in their arms as tears went down their cheeks and she fell asleep in their arms. Jagger had begged her to stay home with him instead of going shopping with Jessica but she had been worried about finding him the perfect gift. Henley had been in love with Jagger forever. But for the longest time she had just been Koi’s little sister. Henley had known Jagger since sixth grade. Henwakes to loud voices and one is Koi’s than he comes to and he wraps his arms around her. She said she needed time but she call him when she was ready to talk. She was going home. She needed the memories of them in her home to decide. Does she stay with jagger or does she leave him behind? Kip buys Henley a puppy to help her heal.

I don’t know how to really write this. I loved this book but hated the cliffhanger at the end -one of the worse ones I’ve seen. I laughed, I cried and even got angry while reading this book. I was poed at jagger for not letting henley know what was going on. I didn’t like what Henlet did to lessen the pain she was in. I loved how Kip brought her a puppy to try to help Henley heal. I think Jagger gave up to soon if he really loved Henley than made more mistakes. I loved how henley’s family and friends stood by her and tried to help. This book did need some editing. I liked the multiple POVs even if it broke my heart at times. I advise you to read the first boke in this guitar face series- Broken. I loved this and would have rated it a five but it lost a pint for the cliffhanger at the end. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it. Just be warned this book as well as Broken ends  in a cliffhanger.

The Sheikha’s Unexpected Protector - Leslie North

Salari got a phone call that featured the country code of her country that she had been exiled for ten years from. The country she hadn’t been to since she had left. When she answered it was her younger brother Zatar.  The only man she had ever trusted. The only one who hadn’t completely burned her. Zatar had called her to let her know of their mother's death but the sheik found out he had been calling than the calls came rarely. Her father had cast her out of her home and country because he believed a guard over his only daughter. She now had her own life she’d built with her own hands/ Than Zatar said their father had died in a helicopter accident. Zatar was now king and had even found his future queen.  He wanted her to come home and she decided she would make a quick visit. That seemed right and fair. Salari hung up the phone in a stupor. Her stomach hanging somewhere between excitement and dread. She understood Zatar wanted her back but he didn’t understand the painstaking years she’d survived in order to build up her French life. Zatar had changed things since his father’s death. Kalih forced himself not to think about Salari but she refused to leave his headspace. He now worked for Zatar. Zatar told Kalif he needed him to pick up an important dignitary and bring her to the palace.  She needed security and must be protected until she is in the palace. Kalif and Zatar had grown up like brothers. Kalif’s father had been the Captain Of The Royal Guard during Kalifs childhood. Kalif had stepped into the hole when his father passed away. The deepest part of him wished it is sher. Part of Kalif worried he might not fully let go of her. It was salari Balizar, Princess of Katihar. Kalif said hello and she said “ what are you doing here?” He told her Zatar had sent him to pick her to take here to the palace. Salari said no . He didn’t blame her for treating him like that. After their history, she had every right to. But he was here on the Kings orders. Her name felt strange on his tongue. He’d stop saying it around the time he had stopped writing it, almost two years after she’d departed. Two years of unanswered letters that he’d written pleading with her to forgive him, to hear his side, to accept every form of apology, convinced finally that he should just move on. Kalif had been Salari’s only true love but he had betrayed her and lied about her  and caused her to be exiled. Kalif’s reason for lying in the past has made sense. They had been star crossed lovers as teens. Kalif had been nineteen and was risking his life for his love of Salari. But after his lie Salari had been branded a whore by her father and exiled. She said she would take a taxi and he said there were none. Salari did eventually get in the car to go to the palace. Than all eyes were on them. Royal Guard snubbed by returning princess. No one knew the details about what had happened before but her attitude would worsen her reputation. Salari now hated Kalif and he was to be her personal guard. But Salari doesn’t know everything that had happened and how Kalif’s hands were tied. But in the first twenty four hours Since Salari had been back there had been two attempts to kill her in twenty four hours. Kalif will do everything in his power to prevent anyone from hurting Salari as someone was somehow getting into the palace. With her life in danger Kalif takes Salari to a secret place to ensure her safety while there the love they had deep in their hearts was rekindled. They returned back after the  the intruder had been caught. But they find out there in more than one intruder and person who wants Salari dead.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Salari and Kalif together . But why didn’t Kalif didn’t go to france and personally apologize to Salari and tell why he had betrayed her. He wrote her for two years why wouldn’t he face her and try to make her understand?  I loved that at least Zatar had stood by her and kept in contact even if it wasn’t very often. This was a quick read but had a lot in it. It had: betrayal, death attempts, star crossed lovers, passion, danger, intrigue, unknown people trying to kill a princes, a princess, suspense, anger. A Captain of the Royal Guard,a lie, action, a secret place, and so much more. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

Great Story and Characters

Falling For His Mate (Crescent Moon Series Book 6) - Katie Reus, Savannah Stuart

Andrew was second in command of the O’Shea pack. He was a wolf shifter and humans didn’t know shifters and vampires existed they weren’t ready for that knowledge. Sybil asked him if he knew what he was doing as the drove to Charlie’s packs territory in Alabama. Andrew had fallen for Charlie hard but had screwed up bad. Sybil and Andrew were like siblings and she called him a dumbbutt and he said ,maybe he was. Sybil added if he ever got her to forgive him, he’s going to have to get her wolf  on his side too. If he had ghosted her like he did Charlie that her wolf would claw up his face on sight. On principle. He knew Charlie could attack him on sight. For the next few weeks or however long it took all the Alphas in the Southeast region to meet and discuss potential alliances and what to do about the rash of rogue vampires that have been infiltrating their territory, this was Sybil and his home. Each Alpha had traded a couple of their packmates with other packs. This logic was noone was going to attach another pack because if they did the packmates the packmates they traded would be killed. Andrew had to see Charlie to apologize and make things right. Mac MaCray stepped out. He was over one hundred years old. Andrew nodded and held out his hand. Every since meeting Charlie, Andrew’s  entire world was off its axis. She unleashed his primal instincts that Andrew never knew he had. She brought out something untamed in him. Andrew agreed to work/help at Charlie’s styling salon but she didn’t know it yet. He was just going to show up before she had a chance to be gone if she learned he was coming. He wasn’t waiting until tomorrow. He had to see her. And hope he could convince her to give him a second chance. The thought f giving up his role of second. The pack that he loved ….it was hard. But he couldn’t stay away from Charlie anymore. She was his to claim. Her friend Erica asked what she was thinking about as she had the weirdest look on her face and her scent was weird too. Charlie’s scent was probably crazy because when she thought of Andrew she got turned on and POed simultaneously. Her emotions went haywire and neither human or wolf side  had any control. She hated he made her feel unbalanced. It had been like this since they met. Then he walked in the door. She didn’t want to see her. It hurt too much. She thought about how she would react if she ran into him again. Andrew was different that what they'd shared had been serious, going somewhere. When she had went to South Carolina to her friend’ Alyssa’s baby shower she met Andrew. For the first time in hre life she understood what it meant to experience fireworks inside her. Their gazes collided and she felt the connection all the way to her core. Charlie had extended her stay. Andrew had started hardcore courting her. He had promised to come to the opening of her salon and never showed up. But no way was she trusting him again. He’d had his chance and he’d lost it.

I loved this book. Once I started it I didn’t put it down so I read this in one setting. I loved Charlie and Andrew and how they interacted I loved how Andrew was willing to give up his pack and his position in his home pack. I loved knowing Charlie put his happiness or what she knew was important to him first. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

Good Story and Good Characters

Mating Bite - Cynthia Eden

Lauren was new to being a vampire amd had been turned without any say. She had been falling for Antoine and all he wanted was her blood. Her fangs popped out and she was used her hand to put over her mouth as she gave the two men at the bar their beers. Her fangs grew when she was hungry and she was getting hungrier by the minute. She was working in a small bar on a side street in Savannah. Lauren had an overwhelming urge to bite someone and ran to the backroom. She didn’t see the man and ran right into him. He said he didn’t mean to scare her. Lauren said he didn’t scare her.  To think once upon a time Lauren had been such a good girl: never breaking rules, being kind to strangers and stray kittens. But where had that gotten her? Carter said he’d wait for her back at th ebar. Lauren was getting out of this place before she ended biting the patrons. Even though she was a vampire her heart still beat and she needed air to breathe but she now had fangs . She had superhuman strength. She burned in the sunlight. She was on a pretty much liquid diet . Her liquid of choice was blood. This is wrong. There had to be a way for her to get her old life back. The man and woman were waiting for her . Lauren said she didn’t want any trouble. The woman replied than you shouldn’t have asked for a meeting with a witch. Than Lauren said you’re The Dealer? The Dealer was the name she had given for the powerful witch who supposedly controlled all the magic in the Southwest. Since Lauren now found herself in the supernatural world, she wanted the witch’s help. The witch said that is sher and she was the vamp who wanted to go back to hre human life?   Lauren said you’ll make me human again? Than she heard” no sweetness. They won’t make you human” the words came from behind her and she smelt Carter’s scent. He added ‘ there’s no going back from what you are. Than the witch had a sharp knife saying she hated vamps especially Antoine Abandonato. Than she held up the knife again to kill Lauren but Carter tore the blade out of Dealer’s fingers and through it in the dumpster. Than Lauren had crawled to the man Carter had put down and bit his wrist and was drinking his blood. The dealer tried to bargain with Carter. Carter had his hands on her shoulders and said let him go. Than carter had her in his arms and was running and she bit him and his blood wasn’t like any blood she’d tasted before. Desire also beat in his veins. He got her in a truck and told her she had enemies chasing her and they had to haul butt now. He couldn’t drive while she bit him. He said if she’d come back to him at the bar he wouldn’t have started a new war. He said they were going to follow them and they weren’t going to let with either of  them just vanish. Natalie Kingston-the Dealer- knelt by big Roy as she saw that the vamp got blood from Roy. Despite the magical enhancements she gave Roy he was still human. Lauren wasn’t like most humans as she didn’t die , she actually rose from the dead. Natalie said she’d find the vamp. She had plenty of power at her command. Dark magic, that she’d traded bits of her soul for over the years. She’d use her magic . she'd have her revenge. Carter was in trouble he desperately wanted Lauren. Her scent was an aphrodisiac to him. Carter healed quick as a rule being a werewolf but he swore he still felt her bite. It seemed to burn his skin. Like a brand. One bite that never should have happened and Carter was hooked mind and body. Lauren and carter are mates. But he had to decide what to do about the Vampire that hired him and not telling Lauren why he had really helped her at first. The most important thing to a werewolf is his mate.

I really enjoyed this book.  I liked the plot and pace a lot. I felt bad that carter had saved his Alpha’s mate and she gave him blood as he was badly wounded and eh got addicted to vampire blood because of it. This book had a bit of everything : witches, vampires, werewolves, action, adventure, danger, fleeing form a witch and bad vampire, newly found mates, lies, secrets, and so much more. I advise you to read the first book in this series first for a smoother read. I loved Lauren and Carter together and how they interacted. Carter and Lauren had hot chemistry. I felt bad for Lauren that someone she had been falling for only wanted her for her blood at first. I liked the duo POVs. I liked the idea of different species being able to use each others blood for  food. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

Great Story and Characters

Sullivan's Promise - Joan Johnston

Lexie/Vick had given her son up but after six months showed up for her once a month weekend to be with Cody. Five years later -     Usually Rye or his brother Mike or mother darcie dropped Cody off at 5 pm Friday for his monthly visit and Vick took him back 5 pm Sunday.  When Rye or his brother mike or mother Darcie hadn’t showed up by 7pm Darcie went to the ranch house and found a cryptic message on Sullivan’s-Rye’s- back door. Meet me at the hospital. She tried to call but Sullivan didn’t return any of her calls. She tried once again to call Sullivan  as she started her truck and it went right to voicemail. She tried not to imagine the worst for he five year old son. Cody was never far from Sullivan’s side when he went out on the range. But he also rode trails close to home by himself. Vick thanked God she was living here year round in Montana. Thank God she could be at the hospital when her son needed her. It was still agony to give Cody back to his father but she’d been able to see Cody far more over the past year when he participated in school or church events that she could attend. Unfortunately living here meant she also had interaction with Sullivan. He had someone else or he passed Cody over with a stony silence. But since moving to Montana last year she encountered Sullivan in situations, especially at Cody’s school and Sunday School where they were forced to act cordially. It had been awkward to say the least. She often ran into Sullivan at the grocery store or out at the bar with his latest girlfriend when she was getting together with Pete Harrison a Flathead county deputy sheriff who recently turned into more than just a friend. Her accidental meetings with Sullivan always seemed fraught with tension. He spoke briefly and curtly to her , if he spoke to hre at all. She figured too much had been left unsaid between them. Or maybe left unresolved. Vick had never forgiven  herself for giving up her child, so she couldn’t very well blame Sullivan for begrudging her every moment she spent with Cody. when she got to the ER she found out it was Sullivan's younger brother Mike who had been injured. Why couldn’t he have said Mike was injured and not Cody? Seh saw Sullivan pacing the waiting room but than Cody saw her and came running and said”Uncle Mike got eaten by a bear.” She still had a distant relationship with Sullivan but had surprisingly become a good friends with darcie over the past five years. Lexi now went by Vick with everyone. Sullivan told Vick it was bad Mike had been attacked by a grizzly bear the same ones she fought to save. When darcie said mike needed blood Vick quickly stepped up to donate and so did Sullivan. Sullivan found out not both his parents were biological . than Vick thought back to the panicked look on Darcie’s face when Sullivan said he would be donating blood also. Maybe Sullivan had been adopted or Darcie had been pregnant when she married Patrick Sullivan’s father. Vick had been a baby when her mnother ran off with one of her father's cowhands, and her father had been absent most of her childhood , living in the governor's mansion while she and her three sisters were back on his ranch. At least Sullivan knew he had been loved. Sullivan said why didn’t they just tell him if he was adopted. Vick couldn’t believe Sullivan was sharing  his very private and personal thoughts with her but she then realized there was no one else. Than his current girlfriend-Sherry- told Sullivan she wasn’t his babysitter. She didn’t want her own kids or his.Than he gave Lexie/Vick credit the mere thought of Cody being hurt and she had broken speed limits to get to the hospital, she had donated blood for Mike and she sat beside his mother offering comfort. At the moment Lexie was using word games to distract a tired and cranky Cody. that left Sullivan?Rye free to pace the floor with worry for his brother. Rye/Sullivan realized she was teaching cody as she played with him. When he compared the behavior of the woman he had scorned for five years and the behavior of the woman that supposedly loved him, he realized he had been fooling himself. Sherry would never make a good mother for Cody or good wife for him. He then told Sherry after thanking her for being there he thought they better call it quits. Sullivan ended up having Vick stay at his house to watch cody as he had to take care of the ranch and his mother wanted to stay at the hospital with Mike. he didn’t know how long that would be for. But he still couldn’t bring himself to call her Vick to him she was Lexie. He felt a flood of desire that shook him when he was talking to lexie about staying in his home. That was why he had kept his distance for the last five years . That was why he had done his best to avoid meeting her during the weekend handoffs. That was why every conversation he had with her over the last year since she had moved to Montana was awkward and uncomfortable. He’d never stopped wanting her. He could never forgive her for walking away form Cody . How was he going to handle her every morning at breakfast for weeks, maybe even months . having her in his home all the time. She had agreed then ;eft with Cody said she would pack a bag and be at the ranch later.  Now she was going to devote herself to being a full time mom to Cody as long as she could. Sullivan must had made his feelings clear of not wanting her thee and cody had absorbed it when he got mad at her and said some hurtful things. She realized she had a lot to learn when having Cody fulltime to just a weekend a month. Even though she intended on taking Sullivan back to court if he didn’t give her more time with Cody. The fact she still found Sullivan attractive would have to be left on the shelf. Vick thought about why she had left the hotel- so long ago- before Sullivan woke up. She guessed it was because of past experience she didn’t trust anyone to stick around for the long haul. The man she had left that night was leaving the next day to go home. She didn’t think she would ever see him again no use hanging around.

I loved this book. I didn’t want to put this down. I loved the angst in this it was just enough . It had several substories but they were well done and you didn’t get confused or frustrated with them. They were tied all together so well by the end. I loved the closeness Vick had with her sisters especially her twin Taylor.  Also the closeness Sullivan had with his siblings. I loved how the author wrote this book and the problems and situations and difficulties that came up and how they were handled and resolved. I would have liked to seen Mike have a HEA . Hopefully he will get his own book. My heart broke for Mike. I loved Cody he was such a sweetheart but also a typical five year old and added a lot to this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it . Yup another favorite.
