Jack is a perpetual student. He got into another screw up so his father is sending him to England to help out a friend named Daniel. Daniel is a neuroscientist who dropped out of research two decades earlier. He was trying to identify the memory molecule. Jenilee Grey is Daniel's ward. Jenilee's mom was murdered when she was five years old. She was in a restaurant and walked out, leaving everything. It took two years to find her. When she was found, she was in a fugue state and didn't recognize Daniel and had completely reinvented herself. She now calls herself Eloise Blake, but Daniel properly identified her because of birthmarks on her wrist and her eyes. Jenilee doesn't feel she needs help and doesn't trust Daniel. She is an obsessive free runner. Jack was a free runner but he hasn't in a while. Daniel feels someone is trying to kill her so he doesn't give up. Jack starts following Eloise and eventually starts making contact and starts to run with her.
I found Eloise to be strong-minded, physically very strong, yet has confusion and sees things that don't make any sense. She doesn't trust nor care easily. Jack was the proverbial rich boy, but changes as the story goes on. He becomes caring and protective of Eloise. I enjoyed this story. It was a bit slow at times, but something always pushed me to keep going to see if it picked up, which it did.
